Non-clinical trauma-informed Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion human-centric content

Hi there!

The work I do is all about connection. Connecting people to people, connecting language to real life context, connecting DEI terms to true meaning for small business owners, and connecting systemic issues to better organizational practices in order to create change.

My professional philosophy is to provide brave spaces for healthy dialogue around diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging. I tell all of my clients, whether they are students, small business owners, or CEO’s, that my goal is to create an energized atmosphere for seemingly difficult conversations to build personal and organizational, anti-racist priorities.

A Starting Point

01 — My DEI Practioner Lens

I create innovative ways to enhance DEI support methods with trauma-sensitivity for deeper rooted intersectional understanding and high level cultural change. By integrating the guiding principles of trauma-informed care into my work, I create more intentional, safe, empowering, and autonomous spaces with those I support and work with!

02 — Prioritizing Trauma-Sensitivity

Trauma is a term used to describe the extremely challenging emotional consequences that living through a distressing event can have on an individual. Identity-based trauma is the intersectional impact of inner and external harm that connects to one or more social identities, and the connection between PTSD and traumatic events. Examples can be racial battle fatigue, the stress associated with gender discrimination, lack of processing space for grief and anxiety, and high levels of mental health issues.

03 — Trauma-Informed DEI

Trauma-informed Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work acknowledges that identity-based trauma is often raised in intensity because of historical and systemic inequities, transgenerational emotional wounds, and internalized oppression that stems from external discrimination. This framework recognizes individual experiences and identities connected to privilege and acknowledges that oppression can directly add layers of complexity to personal and community-based trauma. Trauma- informed DEI centers holistic support, integrated self-compassion, and acknowledgement of humanity.

What they’re saying

I walked away with so much actionable feedback, writing and wisdom for me to integrate and implement. Michelle is deeply thoughtful and present in each of her consults. Her Trauma-Informed lens shines because she prioritizes the person in front of her. She helped me get clear on my business vision, values and why. She kept it real and celebrated my progress each step of the way. She truly cares. She's intelligent and strategic.
